Deep Sea cables are also known as Submarine communications cable is a cable laid on sea between land based stations to carry telecommunication signals.

The first submarine coomunications cables carried telegraphty traffic.
In Aug 1850, John Watkins Brett's Anglo-French telegraph company laid the first line across English channel.
It was made up of a copper wire coated with gutta-percha without any protective layer and this experiment served to keep alive the concession and the next year on Nov 1851.

In 1980's the first optic cables were developed and the first transaltantic telephone cable to use Optic fiber is TT-8.
