ActiveX Compatibility Manager

Friday
This utility allows you to easily disable/enable ActiveX components on Internet Explorer browser.
It disables the desired ActiveX component by setting the "kill bit" of the desired CLSID under the following Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility

Using ActiveX Compatibility Manager:

ActiveX Compatibility Manager is a standalone executable, and it doesn't require any installation process or additional DLLs. In order to start using it, just copy the executable file (acm.exe) to any folder you like, and run it.
The main window of acm displays the list of all ActiveX components that are currently available for enabling/disabling. For components that are currently installed on your computer, additional information is also displayed:

  • product name,
  • company name,
  • description,
  • version,
  • filename.

If you want to disable an ActiveX component that doesn't appear in the list, you can add it to the list by using "Add New Items" option. On the "Add New Items" window, you can type one or more CLSIDs or ProgIDs separated by comma or enter key. For example: if you want to add ADODB.Stream and ShockwaveFlash.

ShockwaveFlash components to the list: You can simply type their CLSIDs:
{00000566-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}
{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}

Or alternatively, you type their ProgIDs:
ADODB.Stream, ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash

After clicking 'Ok', the components that you typed are added to the ActiveX Compatibility list, and you are allowed to easily disable/enable them.
You can also add new CLSIDs from a text file, by using "Load New Items From File" option. When you use this options, all CLSIDs in the text file are added in disabled state.

Disabling/Enabling Macromedia Flash Player

By default, Flash player is not listed in the ActiveX Compatibility list (unless another program added it), but your can easily add it by following the instructions below:
  1. Select "Add New Items" from the File menu (or press Ctrl+N).
  2. Type the CLSID of Macromedia Flash: {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
If flash is installed on your computer, you can also type the ProgID of Flash: ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash
  3. Press Ok, and Flash will be added to the 'ActiveX Compatibility' list. After that, you can easily select the Flash item, and then disable/enable it.

RTMP Download Helper

Friday
RTMPDumpHelper is a small utility that can help you to easily download RTMP video/audio streams.
By combining this utility and the proxy server of RTMPDump toolkit, you can simply open a Web page containing RTMP video stream in your favorite Web browser, and while watching the video, it'll be saved to your disk automatically as .flv or .mp4 file.
RTMP is a streaming protocol used by Hulu, justin.tv, and by many live streaming Web sites.

How it works

  • When you run RTMPDumpHelper utility, it automatically detects your Web browser and attaches to it a small dll file - RTMPDumpHelper.dll
  • When the attached dll of RTMPDumpHelper detects that RTMP connection (TCP Port 1935) is initiated by your Web browser, it automatically redirects the connection to your own computer (connection to 127.0.0.1)
  • The proxy of RTMPDump toolkit (rtmpsuck.exe) receives the redirected connection and downloads the RTMP stream to your hard drive. It also sends the downloaded RTMP stream back to your Web browser, so you can continue watching the RTMP video stream while it's downloaded by RTMPDump toolkit.
  • Be aware that effect of RTMPDumpHelper is only temporary. Once you exit from RTMPDumpHelper, the dll will be detached from your Web browser, and you'll be able to use your Web browser normally (Without the RTMP redirection).

Start Using RTMPDumpHelper

In order to start using RTMPDumpHelper, follow the instructions below:
  • Download RTMPDumpHelper, and extract all files into a new folder. You must have write permission in this folder, so RTMPDump toolkit will be able to save the RTMP streams into your disk.
  • Download the Windows build of RTMPDump toolkit, and extract all files into the same folder you created for RTMPDumpHelper.
  • Run the RTMPDumpHelper.exe executable. RTMPDumpHelper will also execute rtmpsuck.exe or rtmpsrv.exe executables, and you'll see it as black console window.
  • Run your Web browser (if it's not already running). If RTMPDumpHelper detects your Web browser, you should see 'Attached To Web Browser' message in the main window of RTMPDumpHelper. If your Web browser is not detected by RTMPDumpHelper, you should press F8 and manually choose your Web browser.
  • Browse into a Web page containing RTMP stream. At the moment your Web browser start playing the video/audio stream, you should see "Captured RTMP connection" message inside the main window of RTMPDumpHelper and the proxy server of RTMPDump toolkit will start downloading the stream into your disk.
  • The video/audio file will be downloaded into the same folder where rtmpsuck.exe is located. You can choose to store the downloaded RTMP streams in another folder from the 'RTMPDump Options' window (F9).

MyUninstaller

Friday
MyUninstaller is an alternative uninstaller utility to the standard Add/Remove applet of Windows operating system.
It displays the list of all installed application, and allows you to uninstall an application, delete an uninstall entry, and save the list of all installed applications into a text file or HTML file.
MyUninstaller also provides additional information for most installed applications that the standard Add/Remove applet doesn't display:

  • product name,
  • company,
  • version,
  • uninstall string,
  • installation folder.

Uninstalling an application:

In order to uninstall an application, select the desired entry, and from the File menu (or from the pop-up menu) select "Uninstall Selected Software".
The uninstall applet of the selected application will be launched instantly
Removing an uninstall entry
In some circumstances, an application is not removed properly and the uninstall entry remains on your system. If you find an obsolete uninstall entry of an application that is no longer installed on your computer, you can remove the entry from the installed applications list. In order to remove an uninstall entry, select the item that you want to remove, and from the File menu (or from the pop-up menu), select "Delete Selected Entry".

Quick Mode:
By default, each time that you run MyUninstaller utility, it automatically scans and analyzes the installed applications on your computer.

On computer with dozens of installed applications, this loading process may be quite slow. If you want to load MyUninstaller in much faster way, turn on the quick mode option.
When quick mode is enabled, the information gathered by MyUninstaller is saved into a special INI file under your 'Application Data' folder, and in the next time you run MyUninstaller, the installed applications information will be loaded from that INI file, instead of reanalyzing your system. However, if you have installed new software since the last time you ran MyUninstaller, you have to refresh the software list by pressing F5 key.
In order to enable or disable the quick mode, select the 'Quick Mode' option from the View menu.

Advanced Mode:
When Advanced Mode is turned on, you are allowed to select multiple items, and then delete or uninstall them at once.
This option is turned off by default, and you should not turn it on, unless you're really a power user.

Blue Screen Error

Saturday

The Blue Screen of Death is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to crash
list some useful conclusions for further repairing of Blue Screen of death.

Text code you can use to diagnose the Blue Screen main cause

The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error usually means there are bad drivers of your hardware working on the computer. Also confliction of hardware can cause the error. You should consider to remove recently added new hardware to your system and see whether it fixes the problem. Similarly, disabling newly loaded device driver when you get Blue Screen can make your computer works again.
REGISTRY_ERROR

Such an error indicates a catastrophic failure in the system’s registry. However, this error can sometimes be caused by failure to read the registry from the hard disk rather than because the registry itself is corrupt. Most of the time though, if you get this error, you’ll have to restore from backup.

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Just as the name implies, this error indicates that Windows NT is having trouble reading from the hard disk. This error can be caused by a faulty device driver or a bad small computer systems interface (SCSI) terminator. If you’ve checked for these problems, but are still receiving the error, check to make sure that a virus hasn’t destroyed your boot sector.

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

This kind of error is always considered caused by an incorrectly configured device driver. The registry is responsible for running the hardware and software of your computer as it stores all the values of the same. The registry is unable to load the drivers leading to Blue Screen error.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

This error message is almost always caused by your computer’s memory. If you receive this error, check to make sure that all of your single inline memory modules (SIMMs) are the same type and speed. You should also check to make sure that your computer’s Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) is set for the correct amount of RAM. If all of these suggestions check out, try replacing the memory in the computer.

BAD_POOL_HEADER

This is, perhaps, the most obscure error message. In most cases, if you receive this error, it’s related to the most recent change you’ve made on your system. Try undoing the change to get rid of the error.

NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

An NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM error indicates hard disk corruption. If your system is bootable, run CHKDSK /F on all of your partitions immediately. If your system isn’t bootable, try installing a new copy of Windows NT in a different directory. You can use that copy to run the CHKDSK program. When you’re done with the second copy, you can edit your BOOT.INI file to make your computer start your original copy of Windows NT.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

This error indicates that Windows NT wasn’t able to read a page of kernel data from the page file. Bad memory, a bad processor, incorrectly terminated SCSI devices, or a corrupt PAGEFILE.SYS file may cause this situation. The first step in correcting such an error is to recreate the PAGEFILE.SYS file and see if you can bring your system back online.

NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE

This is a generic error message in which the hardware abstraction layer can’t report on the true cause of the error. In such a situation, Microsoft recommends calling the hardware vendor. This error can sometimes be caused by mixing parity and non-parity SIMMs, or by bad SIMMs.

The following picture describes about Blue Screen error in Windows 8 & Windows 7

Microsoft Windows 8 vs Windows 7

Wednesday

Most ppl are still using Windows Xp only!
Few ppl are using Windows 7 and little amount of ppl are aware of Windows 8!
Now am gonna share some advantages og Windows 8 over Windows 7.

First of all I would list some of the two Operating system features without explanation and give the differences between the two.

1. Features of Windows 7 Operating System
One Click Wi-Fi.
Hardware.
Action Center Alert.
Start Button Menu

2. Features of Windows 8 Operating System
Speed Boot Timer
Attractive Desktop
Search Engine Improvement
Clear Graphics.

3. Desktop Background

Windows 8 has a charming and attractive desktop background that makes the users have interest on it while windows 7 has a simple and complex desktop back ground, although the look is not that bad but that of windows 8 is far better than it.
In that sense windows 8 has a better or has a quality desktop background than that of windows 7.

4. Start Menu Key

Windows 7 has the START MENU button while windows 8 doesn't have any, but there is a key that represent the START MENU button on the windows 8 Operating system, that key is far different from that of windows 7. The windows 8 start menu button is called Search Charm; you can use the search charm to search for anything you want to search for on your windows 8 computer.

5. Picture Password

The ordinary password which is the typing password is a common commodity on the old windows operating system, now a new type of password form is now introduced by Microsoft, you can use the picture password to unlock your computer.
When you want to unlock your computer you would have to give out some features on the picture then your computer would unlock.

This is a very good and useful way to protect your password for those that don’t know how to secure their computer. In this case windows Operating system 8 is much better than windows Operating system 7.
